CNR - Consiglio Nazionale per le Ricerche (IMM and IMEM institutes). For more than 10 years, CNR-IMM Institute has strongly interacted with STMicroelectronics/Micron, performing research activities to study the physical phenomena and the materials to be integrated into new generation devices, as in the case of chalcogenides for PCM memory cells. The CNR-IMEM Institute has been engaged for 40 years in researches on the growth and characterization of advanced materials for electronic and magnetic applications. As for semiconductors the CNR-IMEM activity is mostly concerned with III-V, II-VI, and IV-IV compounds, like InGaAs, InAs, InGaP, AlGaAs, CdTe, SiC, CIGS, in the shape of layers, QWs and QDs.

ALES - Air Liquide is a world leader in gases for the industry. Over the past 10 years, Air Liquide has been involved in the development of new precursors and delivery system for the semiconductor industry. New precursor design, characterization and assessment provide the industry improved processes to meet the increasing targets (thermal budget, process window, material compatibility…). With always new materials being involved, precise delivery system needs to be developed. To complete its offer, Air Liquide is proposing new delivery system solutions that meet the industry requirements. ALES is a subsidiaries of Air Liquide providing solutions for gas and chemicals dispense. This entity provides the most suitable technologies to accommodate Air Liquide’s precursors properties in a dispense systems.

FZJ - Peter Grünberg Institute, Division Semiconductor Nanoelectronics (PGI-9) – The Peter Grünberg Institute is dedicated to fundamental research on novel physical concepts and emerging materials in information technology and related fields. It also provides state-of-the-art development of process technologies, devices and innovative nanoelectronics material systems. The PGI-9 provides a platform for the fabrication and development of semiconductor nanodevices in the III/V as well as in the Si based material system. The group has large experience in the fabrication and analysis of semiconductor nanodevices. The institute combines a broad knowledge base in fundamental and device physics, semiconductor technology and material science. FZJ has a strong background in MOCVD deposition for the growth of layers as well as for selective growth of (core-shell) nanowires and nano-pyramids and device development for future CMOS technology.

MIY - Micron Semiconductors Italia S.r.l. (participated to the SYNAPSE project from December 2012 to November 2014) designs and manufactures a full complement of integrated NOR, NAND and Phase Change non-volatile memory technologies and products to meet the increasingly sophisticated needs of customers in the cellular and embedded markets. Micron Semiconductors Italia combines the technology and manufacturing expertise of the flash memory divisions of Intel Corporation and STMicroelectronics, and is dedicated to providing high density, low power memory technologies and packaging solutions to a global base of customers.

CNRS - Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) is a government-funded research organization under the administrative authority of the French Ministry of Research in charge of research covering all fields of knowledge. Institut de Mécanique et d'Ingénierie de Bordeaux Department TREFLE The Institute of Mechanical Engineering of Bordeaux (CNRS-I2M, 350 employees) is a research unit (UMR 5295) under the authority of CNRS, Université Bordeaux 1, Institut Polytechnique de Bordeaux and Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers. The main area of research activity of department TREFLE, i.e., the CNRS-I2M's department involved in the project, concerns heat & mass transfer, fluid mechanics, with particular focus on heterogeneous & multiphase media analysis by multi-scale theoretical, numerical & experimental approaches. The laboratory CNRS-I2M is a Joint Research Unit between CNRS and University Bordeaux 1 (UB1).

Tyndall - Tyndall National Institute, a department of the University College Cork, is one of Europe’s leading centres for Information and Communications Technology research and is the largest facility of its kind in Ireland. Its mission is to deliver new opportunities for Ireland’s economic growth through excellence in research, post-graduate education & training, and by delivering innovative solutions to society’s grand challenges in communications, energy, healthcare and the environment.

UNIMIB - Department of Materials Science of the University of Milano-Bicocca is one of the leading centers in the study of functional materials. The theoretical group at UMB is leading in the atomistic simulation of phase change materials. It has a longstanding experience in the ab-initio and classical simulations of material properties and strong collaborations with leading European groups developing new methods and tools in classical and quantum molecular dynamics. In the last five years it has achieved important results on the modelling of structural, electronic and optical properties of phase change compounds including the uncovering of the microscopic structure of the amorphous phase of GST from ab-initio molecular dynamics.
